New driver information system makes life easier and safer for Independent Truckers!

Lansing MI, November 29, 2007 – Trucking is a tough job, but technology company Lectronix has introduced a new driver information system that can make a trucker’s life easier without breaking the bank. Independent truckers looking for navigation, logistics information, and vehicle monitoring without the high costs of fleet management systems, have a new solution at their fingertips. The Lectronix T7000 driver information system from Lectronix offers a completely integrated vehicle monitoring and information system in a single, dash-mounted console unit, but eliminates the maintenance fees associated with solutions targeted at large fleet owners.

The popular Lectronix T7000 system helps drivers improve the speed, safety and routing efficiency of their commercial vehicles, as well as log data for optimum vehicle operation. However, unlike commercial fleet solutions, the Lectronix T7000 has no ongoing monthly fees and no back-end start-up costs, making it an ideal solution for a small fleet, owner/operator, or independent trucker.

The Lectronix T7000 integrates the functions of seven previously separate systems. Voice, video, and data communications are combined into a single, dashboard-mounted unit – a virtual driver control center. The integrated navigation system with speech output can help provide more accurate arrival time estimates, and minimize costs due to lost or delayed vehicles. .A side and rear camera display system, and an electronic tire pressure gauging also gives drivers real-time vehicle monitoring capabilities.

With increasing legislation restricting hand-based cellular use, the Lectronix T7000 also integrates a solution for hands-free calling to minimize distraction and increase trucker safety. Users can make hands-free cell phone call by wirelessly connecting their Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone to the truck’s Lectronix T7000 dash-mounted console and speaker system. Cell phone functionality such as menus and volume are controlled through the Lectronix T7000 console buttons and the T7000 can utilize either its text-to-speech capability or its LCD screen to display the mobile phone's battery level and signal strength, phonebook, call records and caller identity..

The pressures of trying to run a business while on the road can take its toll, so the Lectronix T7000 is designed to offer some relief. Calculating optimal routes, for instance, that anticipates height and weight restrictions, requirements for transporting hazardous materials, and rules for vehicle size or type, is easier using the Lectronix T7000 logistics database that itemizes these requirements for over 7.5 million miles of roads, including interstate, state and municipal roads in both the United States and Canada.

Additionally, owner/operators can improve their vehicle efficiency and reduce emissions by using the Lectronix T7000 environmental display. Sensors and monitors around the vehicle collect data logging SAE J1939 protocol characteristics (idle time, fuel economy, speed, shifting, and emissions), as well as tire pressure gauging, GPS, accelerometer, and optimal route. Information is then analyzed and conveniently displayed on the Lectronix T7000 touch screen monitor.
Of course, entertainment is not ignored on the Lectronix T7000. Premium audio features include AM/FM/WB radio, CD/MP3 player, as well as enhanced audio capabilities such as USB/iPod-based digital audio, and support for optional satellite radio.
